Local roots, professional support
Welwyn Slings was founded by Jilly Clarke, an experienced teacher, antenatal educator, and local parent with a deep belief in the power of carrying. After over a decade working in parenting education and perinatal care, Jilly saw a growing need for trustworthy, evidence-based babywearing support that was welcoming, accessible, and embedded in the local community.
What started as a small sling library in Welwyn quickly grew into a broader mission — and in 2025, Jilly founded Hertfordshire Slings CIC, a not-for-profit organisation committed to making babywearing support available to every family who needs it.
Together, Welwyn Slings and Hertfordshire Slings CIC now serve families in Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, St Albans, Stevenage, and surrounding areas, offering both sling hire and 1:1 babywearing consultations — with a strong focus on equity, empathy and excellent support.

HELLO!
I'm Jilly - the face being Welwyn Slings
I’m a perinatal educator, babywearing consultant, and mum of two — and I set up Welwyn Slings to make trusted, evidence-based babywearing support easier to access for families across Welwyn, Hatfield and Hertfordshire.
I’ve spent over a decade working in antenatal and postnatal education, supporting parents through everything from birth preparation and pregnancy yoga to baby development and postnatal recovery.
I’m trained in babywearing consultancy, hypnobirthing, antenatal teaching, pregnancy and postnatal exercise, and I work as a doula too.
In short? I understand the physical, emotional and practical realities of early parenting — and I bring all of that experience into every consultation I offer.

I am so glad to have booked a babywearing consultation with Jilly! I appreciated that she showed us how to use the slings we already had and then ran through other options based on what my husband and I wanted to get out of babywearing. With Jilly's guidance, my husband was wearing our son in a sling by the end of the appointment and making lunch - it was fantastic!
Jilly came to our house for a private consultation. She listened to our thoughts (or lack of them really!) and then planned a session accordingly. We both got to try 2 slings based on what we said we wanted, and I would definitely say they were the right ones for us to try. Jilly was great at giving us the basic information and then delving in deeper on the carriers we were interested in. There were about 10 different carriers for us to explore (from which we narrowed down to 4 to try, and hired 2). Jilly was very informed on the pros and cons of each, as well as price points and recommended ages of use. It was everything we needed and more! We feel far more informed and are looking forward to trying out the slings we hired, and eventually buying our own.
I also booked Jilly for a babywearing session to get a good understanding of the different types of carriers available and what might work best. Again, I cannot fault Jilly. She is so kind and friendly, she really makes you feel at ease and as though you're talking to an old friend. Highly recommend!
